All of our courses offer the optimal combination of hands-on training, classroom style lectures, sample computer tests and one-on-one guidance. Our style ensures that you are well prepared to pass your certification exams and excel on the job. When you successfully complete the AMSInstitute coursework, you will be as prepared as you can be for success.
Let's be very clear at this point: We will prepare you to take the appropriate tests that pertain to your chosen rating. We will NOT schedule your FAA written test(s). We will NOT schedule your FAA oral & practical exam with a DME for your mechanic rating or DPE for a pilot rating. It is very important that YOU schedule these tests and take full responsibility. Of course, we will assist you with information, but if we were to arrange all your actions, it could be insinuated that we "arranged" your certification. Beware and do not let anyone arrange your certification to make it "easy".
The reason AMSInstitute does not handle this for you is to eleviate any hint or resemblance of a conflict of interest. This is ultimately for your own well being later in life. Please be very cautious of those schools or organizations that offer one-stop shopping. They may be very ligitimate, but years after they are gone, you will still be responsible for your own certification. Reference St.George Aviation and Brian Tobias (http://www.faa.gov/mechanics/retesting/)
It is important to know your ratings and certificates were properly attained and will be properly exercised.

III. The Steps to Earning Your License.
If you have questions on any of the steps, feel free to contact AMSI by phone or Email. That is why we
are here.
The short version:
IV. What is an A & P License?
An A & P License is the term used for an FAA Airman Certificate with Mechanic: Airframe and Powerplant
ratings. Holding this certificate grants you certain privileges as an individual or in an organization to perform or supervise maintenance, preventative maintenance or alteration of an aircraft or appliance, or a part thereof (ref. 14 CFR 65.81)
Depending upon your documented experience, you can earn your A (Mechanic: Airframe) or your P (Mechanic:
Powerplant) separately. Since many maintenance operations send their engine work out, it is fairly common in the industry to see technicians with their A license only.
V. Why an A & P License?
There are many reasons why.
Career - Responsibility - Job Security - Education - well paid - most of all -----Pride.
VI. Veterans Benefits
AMSI offers a Veteran a discount of 5%. Contact us today and find out how much you can save.
VII. Military Occupational Specialty Codes
The FAA will give you credit based on your military experience. Contact the FAA and they will provide you with the updated, new, and the older MOS codes for the U.S. Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. This allows you to use your military aviation maintenance experience toward meeting the requirements of the FAA Airframe and Powerplant mechanic certificate.
